Helga Pinho
Helga Pinho holds an honors degree in Psychology, Psychotherapy and Counseling from the University of Bolton, now known as the University of Greater Manchester, in the United Kingdom. Recently, she has focused her attention on understanding the psychological impact of racism, with a special interest in racial trauma and the development of culturally sensitive therapeutic responses.
She believes in a decolonial psychological practice that addresses the wounds left by structural racism and historical injuries. Helga is particularly interested in researching how discrimination shapes mental health outcomes and in designing community-based interventions that empower racialized communities.
Her commitment is to give visibility to silenced experiences and to help create practical therapeutic tools that honor diverse cultural identities. Through research, clinical work and collaboration with grassroots initiatives, Helga aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledges and the lived realities of those affected by racism.
